Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Psychiatrist to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team. As a Psychiatrist with our organization, you will play a critical role in providing specialized community treatment and rehabilitation services to clients with complex mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities- Support clients in the community who exhibit complex mental health needs and high levels of comorbidity, including substance use disorders, general health problems, and/or significant risk of aggression.
- Be involved in significant outreach, both independently and with clinical colleagues, in various settings, including private residences, SROs, shelters, corrections offices, jail, and public areas.
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams, including Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Health Care Workers, Peer Specialists, GPs, and Concurrent Disorders Clinicians, as well as law enforcement, to provide quality care.
- Provisional or unrestricted license to practice medicine from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC).
- Eligibility or active fellowship in psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC).
- Eligibility or current appointment as clinical faculty with University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine.
- Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) membership.
- Experience managing complex cases or supporting vulnerable populations and familiarity with principles of Community Psychiatry, with a passion for patient welfare.
- Understanding of the importance of delivering high-quality care in complex healthcare systems and the value of a cohesive team environment.
