Job Description

The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and installing mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic equipment at plant and/or pump stations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Repair, maintain, install, replace, troubleshoot, and diagnose various machinery and mechanical equipment such as pumps, conveyors, belts, fans utilizing hand tools and testing instruments;
  2. Inspect completed repairs and recommend appropriate solutions;
  3. Perform all work with strict adherence to all applicable safety legislation and procedures;
  4. Estimate time and material costs on electrical and mechanical projects;
  5. Requisition supplies and materials as required and approved by management;
  6. Work from engineering drawings, rough sketches, manuals, or verbal instruction and install equipment to diagram specifications;
  7. Provide performance feedback to workers to motivate or improve adherence to operating procedures or quality standards;
  8. Complete work orders as required and ensure appropriate follow-up communication;
  9. Disassemble machines and repair/replace/adjust parts accordingly;
  10. Clean and lubricate equipment, parts, and machinery;
  11. Maintain equipment in proper operating condition;
  12. May be required to perform machine operator duties on occasion;
  13. Assist co-workers with any questions or issues regarding task completion.
Qualifications:
  • Valid 442A Electrician Licence and/or a Valid 433A Millwright Licence .
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working in Industrial Maintenance, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of all applicable safety legislation.
  • Proficient at troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and servicing all plant equipment in a timely manner.
  • Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills. Must be fluent in English (read, write, and speak).
  • Experience with a variety of machinery, vehicles, material handling equipment, hand, and power tools preferred. Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
  • Must be deadline-oriented, reliable, and dependable on start and finish times as it impacts the operations.
  • Must work well with others and possess good hand-eye coordination.
  • Must be comfortable rotating throughout the facility as required.
Work Environment:
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Repetitive tasks, physically demanding, and attention to detail.
  • Work Site Environment: Can get dusty, recycling odor.
  • Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation.
  • Shifts (2): Monday - Friday; 6:00 AM– 2:30 PM & 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM, + Overtime; two weeks days then switch to two weeks afternoons.
