We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join our team at Phoenix Elementary School District #1. As a Social Worker, you will play a critical role in providing support, education, and resource referrals to students and families, as well as consultation and support to staff.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual, family, or group therapy to students experiencing problems in school, home, or community, with a focus on early intervention.
- Receive referrals from staff and provide appropriate services at school and through home visits.
- Consult with parents, classroom teachers, nurses, counselors, administrators, and other school staff and outside agencies to ensure comprehensive support.
- Encourage and assist families in accessing community services that address presenting problems.
- Participate in staffings and IEP teams to provide input on treatment goals, behavioral interventions, and family support.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to protect the safety and emotional well-being of students.
- Work with students and families to address attendance concerns and make referrals to relevant authorities when necessary.
- Attend educational conferences and workshops to stay up-to-date on childhood mental health and human behavior.
- Provide staff support and education on childhood mental health and human behavior.
- Network with school-based committees and associations, as well as community interagency teams, to provide services to families and children.
- Supervise graduate social work students and provide LCSW supervision for district employees.
- Maintain accurate records and assist in the development or discovery of resources through networking, fundraising, and grant writing.
- Master's degree in Social Work (LCSW preferred) or a related field with LCSW and school social work experience.
- Practicum experience or on-the-job experience in providing social services or counseling assistance to children and their families.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents to facilitate their well-being.
- Positive and effective communication skills, written and verbal.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and deal with problems involving several concrete variables.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to read, write, and speak at an intermediate level.
- Intellectual, technical, and human relations skills to work cooperatively with colleagues, parents, and community groups.
This position will work in a school environment, with occasional outdoor work required.
Equipment and ToolsPersonal computer, copier, fax, and 10-key calculator.
