About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Professional to join our Canada Indirect Tax Planning team at Amazon Canada Fulfillment Services, ULC. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective and clear communication of tax requirements with business partners, stakeholders, and senior tax leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Management and Coordination: Oversee the management and coordination of Canada indirect tax planning and related enquiries for all Amazon business (except AWS).
  • Tax Planning and Compliance: Ensure new projects launch with Canada indirect tax requirements and processes implemented, minimizing risk and exposure to penalties.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Report on planning initiatives and launches to senior leaders, and analyze and identify planning and policy trends, both in Canada and globally.
  • Legislative Changes: Analyze and support legislative changes for Canada indirect tax that impact Amazon's businesses.
  • Research and Technical Support: Research complex Canadian indirect tax issues and draft tax technical memos and opinions.
  • Liaison and Communication: Liaise with advisors and tax authorities on matters relating to Canadian indirect tax planning and the Amazon business.
  • Indirect Tax Awareness: Promote indirect tax awareness and knowledge internally, including liaising with key stakeholders on changes to systems, policies, and processes.
  • Contract Negotiations: Assist with contract negotiations and reviews.
About the Team

Our team provides high-quality tax technical advice on complex or ambiguous areas, helping our partners see around corners and think through long-term implications of decisions. We build lasting relationships with our partners, gain a deep understanding of their businesses, systems, and flows, and have a lot of fun while doing it.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience.
  • Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multinational corporate tax department.
  • 5+ years of advisory and planning experience on complex Canadian indirect tax matters across GST/QST/BC PST/SK PST/MB RST.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with marketplace tax collection rules federally and across all provinces.
