Visual Communications Specialist

The Visual Communications Specialist will be responsible for supervising other graphic designers or graphic arts technicians, estimating time to complete graphic designs and illustrations, and adapting existing illustrations. They will also produce 2-D and 3-D animated drawings or computer illustrations, work in a multidisciplinary environment, and co-ordinate sub-contracting.

The successful candidate will have a degree from a college, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, and 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a related field. They will also have strong computer and technology knowledge, including MS Office.

As a member of our team, the Visual Communications Specialist will enjoy a non-smoking work site environment, a rural work setting, and the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising other graphic designers or graphic arts technicians
  • Estimating time to complete graphic designs and illustrations
  • Adapting existing illustrations
  • Producing 2-D and 3-D animated drawings or computer illustrations
  • Working in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Co-ordinating sub-contracting
  • Consulting with clients to establish the overall look, graphic elements and content of communications materials
  • Determining the medium best suited to produce the desired visual effect and the most appropriate vehicle for communication
  • Establishing guidelines for illustrators or photographers
  • Preparing sketches, layouts and graphic elements
