Drywall Installation Job Description

S&A Drywall is seeking a skilled Drywall Installation Specialist to join our team. As a Drywall Installation Specialist, you will be responsible for installing drywall sheets, cutting and fitting them to size, and applying successive coats of compound and sanding seams and joints.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install drywall sheets, cutting and fitting them to size
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints
  • Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
  • Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife
  • Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry
  • Tape over joints using taping machine and embed tape in compound
  • Estimate costs and materials
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications
Work Environment:

The work environment is dusty and noisy, with work being done outdoors. The work setting is varied, with tasks taking place at various locations.

Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience
  • Or equivalent experience
  • Judgement
  • Reliability
  • Team player
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

The work is physically demanding, requiring bending, crouching, kneeling, and handling heavy loads. The work is done under pressure, with the ability to work in a team environment.

Weight Handling:

The weight handling requirement is up to 23 kg (50 lbs).

Personal Suitability:

The ideal candidate will have judgement, reliability, and a team player attitude.
