About the Role
The First Nations Health Authority is seeking a skilled and dedicated Nurse in Charge to provide leadership on a comprehensive range of core nursing functions and services within a First Nations community. As a key member of the healthcare team, you will provide professional guidance and assistance to community leaders and other community health care team members in acquiring knowledge and skill.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership on core nursing functions and services within a First Nations community
- Provide professional guidance and assistance to community leaders and other community health care team members
- Work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
- Focus on promoting health, preventing disease and injury, protecting population health, and providing curative, urgent and emergent care, rehabilitation, and supportive or palliative care
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Current registration with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Current CPR course for Health Care Providers (HCP)
- Remote certification (RNC) with BCCNM
- Successful completion of approved training in public health nursing or approved training in obstetrics, mental health, or some other specialty
- Valid Class 5 Driver's license and own a vehicle
- Understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols
- Knowledge of nursing processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in primary care, disease and injury prevention, health protection, curative, urgent and emergent care, medical/surgical, rehabilitation and supportive or palliative care
