Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership on core nursing functions and services within a First Nations community
  • Provide professional guidance and assistance to community leaders and other community health care team members
  • Work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Focus on promoting health, preventing disease and injury, protecting population health, and providing curative, urgent and emergent care, rehabilitation, and supportive or palliative care

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Current registration with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Current CPR course for Health Care Providers (HCP)
  • Remote certification (RNC) with BCCNM
  • Successful completion of approved training in public health nursing or approved training in obstetrics, mental health, or some other specialty
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license and own a vehicle
  • Understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols
  • Knowledge of nursing processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in primary care, disease and injury prevention, health protection, curative, urgent and emergent care, medical/surgical, rehabilitation and supportive or palliative care
