We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team at the John Howard Society of New Brunswick Fundy Region Inc. As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing direct support to individuals with mental health disabilities in a group home setting.

About the Job

As a Support Worker, you will work closely with clients to develop and implement personalized support plans, promoting their independence, safety, and well-being. Your primary duties will include:

  • Providing one-on-one support to clients, assisting with daily living activities, and encouraging participation in recreational and social programs.
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy environment, adhering to all relevant health and safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Participating in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in areas such as crisis intervention, behavior management, and client-centered care.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A strong commitment to supporting individuals with mental health disabilities, demonstrated through prior experience or education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, including Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and Mandt System training.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
