Animal Care Specialist

About the Role:
The BC SPCA is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Care Attendant to join our team at the Surrey Animal Centre. As a key member of our animal care team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of the animals in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional animal care and welfare, adhering to the Five Freedoms and the BC SPCA's animal health policy.
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a clean, sanitary, and efficient environment for animals and staff.
- Assist with animal intake, adoption, and licensing procedures, providing excellent customer service to clients.
- Support front office staff with administrative tasks, including telephone reception, record keeping, and data entry.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in animal care and welfare.
- Contribute to a positive and harmonious team environment, fostering a culture of compassion, respect, and inclusivity.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers' License and driver's abstract.
- Demonstrable interest in animal welfare and a sound knowledge of animal behavior, health, and husbandry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of the BC SPCA's SPCA Certificate, Part 1 course.
