Job Title: Assistant, Accounting

Job Summary:

The YMCA of Greater Vancouver is seeking an experienced accounting assistant to join our finance team. As an accounting assistant, you will be responsible for providing financial support to our program sites across the Lower Mainland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support cash management function
  • Process and enter employee expense reports
  • Accounts payable processing and record maintenance
  • Understanding of PST/GST and application of rules for tax compliance
  • Working with branch administrative staff to correct procedures and resolve issues
  • Liaising with banks to address any account issues and queries
  • Performing established business processes, monitoring compliance while improving efficiency when needed
  • General accounting and administrative responsibilities to contribute to the overall workflow of the department

Requirements:

  • Minimum two years experience in accounting environment
  • Excellent data entry skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Accounting degree or equivalent combination of skills and experiences is an asset
  • Working knowledge of financial software (experience with Sage 300, Sage Intacct, Accounts Payable Automation Systems is considered an asset)
  • Intermediate level MS Word and Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work within a team and independently
  • Ability to consistently meet all deadlines
