About the Role

Knix is a leading direct-to-consumer intimate apparel brand that is revolutionizing the industry with innovative products and a strong community. As a Raw Material Developer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the product development process by applying new thinking to fabric creation and sourcing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Seasonal Design and Development: Support the end-to-end seasonal design and development process to drive innovation, productivity, efficiency, quality, and profitability.
  • Fabric Sourcing: Travel to fabric shows to source new fabric collections, trims, and concepts that meet Knix's high standards.
  • Supplier Partnerships: Partner with fabric suppliers to deliver highly innovative fabrics and provide technical support with design, product development, product integrity, and garment vendor partners.
  • Calendar Management: Uphold the fabric development calendar and adhere to seasonal calendar deadlines to ensure timely delivery of new products.
  • Technical Validation: Execute technical validation and approval process for Raw Materials to ensure they meet Knix's quality and performance standards.
  • Collaboration: Partner with the QA team on fabric testing reporting and risk assessments on developments to ensure quality, performance attributes, and usage expectations are met.
  • Product Development: Follow new fabric concepts through the fitting, testing, and approval process to ensure they meet Knix's product standards.
  • Communication: Participate in weekly meetings to interact with Design, Technical, and Sourcing teams to advise on new product development progress.
Requirements
  • 4-5 years of experience in Fabric R&D/Production with a strong background in building relationships with fabric suppliers and overseas vendors.
  • Knowledge of the apparel manufacturing process and performance fabric testing protocols.
  • Solid raw material construction knowledge, including a clear understanding of raw material manufacturing techniques and strong awareness of raw material trend direction and research & development avenues.
  • Established partnerships with fabric suppliers and the ability to navigate difficult situations to drive solutions while maintaining positive relationships.
  • Understanding of AATCC and ASTM industry test methods.
  • Experience visiting mill/fabric facilities and a keen eye for quality, compliance, and process optimization.
  • Strong ability to lead your area of business and influence decision-making with peers and leadership.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt while maintaining a positive working relationship with all cross-functional departments in a fast-paced dynamic environment with colliding and fluctuating deadlines.
  • Paying great attention to detail, being highly organized, and adhering to deadlines.
