About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Lighting Artist to join our team in the pre-production stage of a AAA Original IP project. As one of the first Lighting Artists on the project, you will play a crucial role in shaping the visuals of the game and ensuring it stands out with stunning, top-tier graphics and realistic lighting.
Key Responsibilities- Develop high-quality lighting setups for scenes, objects, and environments within the game, aligning with artistic goals and gameplay objectives.
- Maintain and optimize lighting pipelines, utilizing dynamic and static techniques to create compelling visuals while adhering to technical specifications.
- Collaborate closely with Tech Art, Graphics Engineering, and Production to establish lighting workflows and visual benchmarks.
- PARTICIPATE IN DETERMINING WHICH FEATURE SETS TO USE TO BEST SERVE THE PROJECT AND DEVELOP STRATEGIES ON HOW TO LEVERAGE UE5 TO THE FULLEST.
- Determine where to invest in improving lighting beyond UE5 and troubleshoot technical challenges related to environmental lighting.
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Professional work experience in AA or AAA games for console or PC.
- 7+ years working professionally as a Lighting Artist in game development (or a combination of game development and a related field).
- Experience with Unreal, specifically including professional or personal experience with UE5.
- A strong portfolio showcasing a wide range of lighting styles and techniques, highlighting both artistic and technical proficiency.
- Real-time game engine experience and an understanding of how to navigate and leverage its many features.
- Comprehensive knowledge of lighting performance, optimization, and memory budget management.
- Strong understanding of art fundamentals, including composition and color theory.
- An excellent artistic eye for lighting in high-quality realistic environments.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate with other disciplines to drive decisions in the lighting space.
- The ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
- Honed communication skills with the ability to provide and accept feedback.
- A competitive salary of approximately $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
