Description

MDA Space, a trusted mission partner to the global space industry, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Processor Analyst to join our team in Richmond, BC, Canada. As a key member of our remote sensing team, you will contribute to the development of novel signal processing algorithms that generate high-value imagery and real-time actionable intelligence for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advanced signal processing algorithms to enhance SAR performance and image quality.
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality SAR processor models and prototypes using current best practices in architecture and software development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure algorithm implementation on real hardware and troubleshoot signal processing errors.
  • Perform system-level analyses and develop models to predict and test system performance.
  • Develop and execute calibration plans for SAR missions and coordinate processing requirements with stakeholders.
  • Generate clear and thorough written reports documenting complex algorithms and technical performance.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Math, Physics, or a related field.
  • 8 years of experience in an engineering or technical environment or 4 years with a relevant postgraduate degree.
  • 6 or more years working on complex signal processing systems.
  • Solid understanding of high-speed and high-throughput data analysis and transmission principles.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or C++ programming languages.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a large organization and understand dependencies and stakeholder needs.

Desired Experience

  • Postgraduate degree in a field involving complex signal processing.
  • Appreciation of SAR remote sensing, including system design, operation, applications, and calibration.
  • Appreciation for satellite-based SAR payload design and operations.
  • Experience in different types of engineering life cycles and software development methodologies.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and space-borne remote sensing domain knowledge quickly.
  • Strong understanding of geospatial data.
