Job Description

A Meat Cutter role at Safeway involves working in a fast-paced environment where you will be responsible for cutting and preparing meat products for display. This includes using knives and saws to cut meat, as well as stocking various meat products on shelves.

About the Role

This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. As a Meat Cutter, you will be responsible for:

  • Cutting and preparing meat products for display
  • Stocking various meat products on shelves
  • Maintaining and building merchandise displays
  • Using commercial power equipment
  • Order writing
  • Receiving and rotating product
  • Filling product showcases
  • Cleaning and sanitizing of work area
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Able to learn quickly
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly motivated and team oriented
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form
  • Possess strong Customer Service qualities
  • Works in a Safe and responsible manner
  • Available to work flexible hours
  • Evening and weekend availability is strongly encouraged
  • Previous Retail Meat Cutting experience an asset
  • Must be available to be scheduled anytime on Sunday (Alberta Only)

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this role include:

  • Constant lifting of up to 20 pounds
  • Constant hand coordination, reaching and gripping

  • Occasional lifting of between 20-100 pounds
  • Occasional exposure to cold temperatures
