BGIS is looking for an experienced Senior Building Condition Assessor to contribute to the success of our company.
Key Responsibilities- Apply building condition assessment processes and technical standards in conducting asset assessments.
- Support the Manager/Director in planning and overseeing project delivery.
- Develop and implement project schedules and coordinate team activities.
- Provide recommendations and cost estimates for building repair or replacement.
- Complete asset assessment condition reports utilizing asset assessment management software.
- Lead scheduling and coordinate site activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- University degree in a relevant field such as architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical engineering, building science, or building engineering.
- 5-8 years of relevant work experience (some exceptions for proven high performers).
- Enrolled in EIT or P.Eng is an asset.
- PMP and BSS are assets.
- General knowledge of technical standards and processes in completing building condition assessments, particularly ASTM Practice E2018-24.
- Advanced knowledge of the process of cost estimating for replacement and repair of building components and systems.
- General knowledge of building science, including base knowledge of all areas of study - architectural building envelope, mechanical and electrical building systems, or site components.
- Specialized knowledge in one of the fields of study - Architectural, structural, building envelope, mechanical, and electrical building systems.
- General knowledge of building design, construction, and facility operation of commercial buildings.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills are mandatory.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills are mandatory.
- Must be detail-oriented; expectation is to perform with minimal errors and/or no corrections required.
- Proficient with MS Office suite of applications (intermediate level); proven ability to quickly learn new applications.
- Possesses a continuous improvement and quality mindset along with a desire to continuously seek and incorporate best practices and technologies to optimize program delivery and deliver value to the client.
- Project management knowledge – ability to support Manager/Director with their activities including delivering projects on-time, on-budget, within specifications, and compliant with all requirements including regulatory, environmental, and H&S requirements.
- Project team coordination/training – ability to support the Manager/Director with team training, coordinate/develop schedules, and work distribution with other Project Leads.
- Ability to develop a strong client service orientation (i.e., internal account team members, FMs, one-off client projects).
- Ability and experience in building and maintaining effective relationships (i.e., managers, team members, internal account leads, etc).
- Ability to take on new initiatives and challenges with a positive attitude and learn quickly.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and prioritize deliverables.
- Valid driver's license with ability to travel across Canada and the US (30-50% of the time).
- Bilingualism both written and verbal would be considered an asset.
