About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Masonry Specialist to join our team at JVH Masonry Ltd. as a Bricklayer. The successful candidate will be responsible for laying bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry units to build residential and commercial structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimating and Planning
    • Estimate materials, tools, and equipment required for projects
    • Read sketches and blueprints to calculate materials required
  • Masonry Work
    • Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles, or other masonry units
    • Lay bricks, stone, or similar materials to provide veneer facing
    • Construct and install prefabricated masonry units
  • Project Management
    • Prepare tenders and quotations
    • Supervise other workers
  • Quality Control
    • Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools
    • Lay bricks or other masonry units to build residential or commercial chimneys and fireplaces
  • Health and Safety
    • Work at heights, on scaffolding, or swing stages
    • Wear steel-toed safety boots, a hard hat, and gloves
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • No degree, certificate, or diploma required
    • 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in the trade
  • Work Environment
    • Construction, repair, renovation, historical restoration, commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential settings
  • Physical Demands
    • Physically demanding work
    • Handling heavy loads
    • Standing for extended periods
    • Bending, crouching, kneeling
