Salary
The estimated salary for this position is CAD $48,080 - CAD $63,374 per year, based on a 37.5 hour workweek and an hourly rate of CAD $55.91.
Job Description
As a Perinatal Nursing Specialist in Labour & Delivery at Vancouver Coastal Health, you will provide advanced perinatal nursing care to expectant clients. This includes conducting comprehensive nursing assessments, providing care to other assigned patients, and working collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of clients and their fetuses
- Provide nursing care to other assigned patients
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers
- Demonstrate continuous improvement in nursing practice
- Maintain and advance your own clinical competence
- Participate in hospital committees and approved research projects
Qualifications
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Completion of a recognized advanced nursing specialty program in perinatal nursing or two years' recent experience
- Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family-centered model of care
- Broad knowledge of BCCNM's standards for nursing practice
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement care plans
- Demonstrated ability to assess client responses and respond appropriately
- Demonstrated ability to adjust to unexpected events, problem-solve, set priorities and deal with conflict
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, and other healthcare staff
- Demonstrated ability to counsel and teach clients and their families
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership through initiative and independence
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position
