Overview:

BMO Financial Group is a leading Canadian financial institution with a rich history of providing banking, wealth management and investment services to individuals and businesses.

We are seeking an experienced Business Banking Relationship Strategist to join our team in Commercial Sales & Service. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and executing relationship strategies to drive business growth and customer retention.

About the Role:

This role involves providing technical expertise for proactive credit analysis, structuring, pricing, and overall transactions assessment within the assigned portfolio/jurisdiction.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to provide advisory support and make credit and pricing decisions in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and Bank policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identify prospective customers and refer them to appropriate personnel
  2. Develop internal and external networks and referral sources to ensure ongoing growth of BMO's business
  3. Provide accurate information about business banking products and services
  4. Monitor and track performance, addressing any issues as needed
  5. Coordinate the management of databases, ensuring alignment and integration of data in adherence with data governance standards
  6. Develop change management plans, leading or participating in various activities including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment of initiatives
  7. Examine credit transactions and related reporting for adherence to transactional policies and procedures
  8. Develop risk profiles, credit structuring of lending proposals, and complete credit investigations
  9. Recommend and implement solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business
  10. Provide input into the planning and implementation of operational programs
  11. Offer advice and guidance to assigned business/group on implementation of solutions
  12. Determine business priorities and best sequence for execution of business/group strategy
  13. Develop, maintain, and execute a business plan, including relationship management strategies, to achieve customer retention objectives
  14. Identify business needs, design/develop tools and training and coaching programs to address observed trends and skill gaps

Requirements:

  • Typically between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong knowledge of business banking products, lending processes, and loan documentation, and supporting policies, procedures, and technologies
  • Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience
  • Data-driven decision making - In-depth

Compensation:

The estimated salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
