Join Our Team as a Chemical Engineer in the Graduate Development Program

Redpath Sugar, a part of ASR Group, is a leading cane sugar refiner with a rich history spanning over 160 years. Our brand is the oldest food-related trademark in Canada and is recognized across the country.

Program Overview

The Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a two-year structured learning and development program designed for new graduates who are hired into the ASR Group Engineering team. This program offers hands-on experience and the opportunity to build a foundation for your career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop multi-discipline proficiency in chemical, mechanical, controls, industrial, and electrical engineering.
  • Review technical reports and perform basic lab tests with supervision.
  • Produce SIPOC diagrams for departmental operations and key physical locations.
  • Participate in and lead Continuous Improvement projects.
  • General electrical troubleshooting and equipment maintenance.
  • Perform Operational and Cost Studies.
  • Assume Area Supervisor roles and responsibilities.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Self-start and demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and deadline-oriented work ethic.
  • Develop leadership skills and a passion for pursuing a career path as a leader in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 0-2 years of professional work experience, including internships and co-ops.
  • Validated leadership experience through extra-curricular activities, employment, or internship experiences preferred.
