We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our Construction and Energy team at AXA XL. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and structuring tailor-made solutions for our clients, utilizing your in-depth underwriting expertise in Construction and Energy risks.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and structure tailor-made solutions for clients, considering underwriting guidelines and policy to win new business and retain existing customers.
- Review submissions, terms and conditions, statement of values, loss history, and catastrophic modeling to determine the degree of risk for each account based on company guidelines and underwriting authority granted.
- Coordinate with various business divisions, including Actuarial, Claims, Reinsurance, Accounting, Marketing, Risk Engineering, Regulatory, and others, to support our businesses.
- Determine quote or declination of risk, calculate rates and premium charges using approved rating models, and develop and modify policy wording in accordance with delegated underwriting authority.
- Actively cross-sell afforded products and services, and support service standards in delivery of Construction and Energy products and services.
- Market to producers to secure new and renewal business and initiate opportunities for cross-selling within your unit and across all lines of business in Canada.
- Develop the skills, knowledge, and competencies of less experienced colleagues, and work effectively with other members of your team.
- Lead and participate in special projects as assigned by management.
- Extensive Construction Property (Builders Risk) and Operational Energy (Renewables, Power, etc.) Property Underwriting Experience.
- Ability to work independently and as an open-minded team player, with a willingness to actively listen to and comprehend unique circumstances that require practical and unique solutions to complex issues.
- Robust insured and broker interaction, with the ability to effectively target current and prospective contacts to promote offered products.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to work with internal teams and external brokers.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills.
- Excellent comprehension and work experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bilingual (English/French) skills are an asset.
- Knowledge of Primary Casualty, including Wrap-Ups and Excess and Umbrella liability, is a plus.
- Bachelor's Degree required, with advanced education and/or professional designations, including but not limited to FCIP, CRIS, preferred but not required.
- Willingness to travel (approximately 25% travel as necessary) within Canada and the USA.
