Position OverviewIBI Group is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to strengthen our dynamic Bridge division. Our team is focused on the execution and management of extensive bridge and structural rehabilitation projects across the country. As a pivotal figure in our organization, you will utilize your profound expertise in bridge engineering and construction to oversee and execute complex projects from start to finish. You will engage with a variety of clients in both public and private sectors, leading multidisciplinary teams through all phases of planning, design, and construction. This position presents thrilling opportunities to contribute to some of the most demanding infrastructure initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Leadership and Project Delivery- Manage the complete lifecycle of bridge projects, ensuring high standards of quality and client satisfaction
- Mentor and guide engineering teams, promoting a culture of collaboration and maximizing team effectiveness
- Conduct advanced engineering calculations, analyses, and designs, adhering to rigorous quality benchmarks and industry standards
- Prepare and evaluate comprehensive engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, cost assessments, and reports
- Offer technical support during construction phases, including the review of contractor submissions and on-site assistance
- Formulate and implement detailed project plans, encompassing budgeting, scheduling, and resource management
- Cultivate and sustain strong client relationships, proactively addressing their needs and concerns
- Lead successful project proposals, assembling high-performing teams to secure project wins
- Oversee financial management and reporting to ensure project profitability
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Perform comprehensive inspections of existing bridges, identifying issues and recommending effective rehabilitation or replacement strategies
- Lead inspection teams, coordinating with specialized sub-consultants and producing detailed inspection reports
- Conduct life cycle cost analyses to support informed decision-making processes
- Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations
- Implement robust quality control measures to minimize errors and enhance project outcomes
- Provide technical guidance to design and drafting teams
- Advanced degree in Structural Engineering with a specialization in bridge engineering from an accredited institution
- At least 20 years of progressive experience in bridge engineering, including inspection, analysis, design, and construction, with seismic analysis experience being a significant advantage
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams effectively
- Licensed Professional Engineer in relevant provinces
- Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian bridge design codes and standards
- Proficiency in 3D modeling and analysis software
- Excellent technical writing, problem-solving, and communication skills
