As the Engineering Manager for TFE Projects, you will oversee and guide a diverse team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers. The ideal candidate will efficiently manage these resources within the central Test Facilities Engineering division to fulfill our obligations to clients. This role primarily involves the strategic planning, development, and execution of significant Test Facilities Engineering projects across the StandardAero network. These initiatives represent substantial investments aimed at enhancing engine testing capabilities across various infrastructures at StandardAero facilities globally, aligning with the company's growth objectives.

The Test Facilities Engineering division comprises two specialized teams supporting over 50 test cells worldwide. The TFE Projects team concentrates on major enhancement or investment initiatives, while the TFE Services team ensures the sustainability of existing test cells globally. These teams collaborate closely to deliver outstanding results for StandardAero through the development and maintenance of essential engine testing infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Core Duties

  1. Direct and support Test Facilities Engineering (TFE) initiatives and resources, particularly major test cell projects aligned with StandardAero's strategic growth.
  2. Coordinate the necessary resources for planning, scheduling, budgeting, execution, and closure of major test cell projects to guarantee timely and high-quality outcomes.
  3. Lead or coordinate stakeholder communications regarding major test cell projects and initiatives.
  4. Establish and nurture productive relationships across the organization to enhance the management, development, and sustainability of our test facilities.
  5. Oversee engineering activities, including systems design, development, implementation, testing, and release.
  6. Develop and refine project management tools.
  7. Evaluate existing project and test cell development methodologies and implement necessary improvements.
  8. Review project and product outcomes and make adjustments as needed.
  9. Collaborate with leadership to enhance TFE products and services, focusing on the sustainability of test cells across StandardAero.
  10. Guide and provide growth opportunities for staff through the Management by Objectives (MBO) process in alignment with strategic TFE goals.
  11. Ensure training and educational programs are executed to enhance engineering staff skills and adapt to technological changes.
  12. Stay informed about engineering trends and advancements for application in test facilities and projects.
  13. Exercise authority in hiring, training, career development, performance evaluations, salary adjustments, promotions, discipline, health, safety, and employee relations for direct reports.
  14. Actively engage in Central Engineering Strategic Teams, contributing to the development and realization of strategic plans, budgets, goals, and outcomes.
  15. Execute special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. 10+ years of experience in a multidisciplinary engineering team focused on large, complex projects within a multi-site organization.
  2. Proven success in leading teams through large, complex, multi-site, and multidisciplinary projects.
  3. Demonstrated ability to build, lead, motivate, engage, and empower a diverse and geographically dispersed team of engineers.
  4. Strong leadership, planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, decision-making, project management, and communication skills.
  5. Customer-focused mindset with robust business acumen.
  6. Working knowledge of gas turbine engine test facilities and the engine testing process.
  7. University degree in engineering.
  8. Willingness to travel internationally as required.
  9. Ability and readiness to travel up to 35% of the time.
