Safran Electronics and Defense Canada is seeking a skilled FPGA Designer to join our Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing FPGA-based systems using VHDL and other modeling languages.

Responsibilities:

  • Capture and define product specifications into a set of device-level requirements, including functional architecture, allocation, and justification.
  • Implement requirements into VHDL code, utilizing existing IPs and standard protocols.
  • Perform simulation, physical integration, and testing, including troubleshooting, debugging, and design modification.
  • Integrate the design into the larger product or system.
  • Develop and maintain life cycle data to support design, implementation, and verification.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or equivalent, with a focus on digital design.
  • 7+ years of experience in FPGA/PLD development, preferably in aerospace, defense, or medical product environments using VHDL or similar languages.
  • Experience in architecture design and trade-offs to define, partition, and allocate requirements to a complex device.
  • Knowledge and experience with DO-254 or similar guidelines for ensuring a safe and rigorous design process.

Additional Considerations:

  • Background in embedded control systems, preferably in the aerospace and defense domain, including working knowledge of system interfaces and sensors.
  • Working knowledge of the ModelSim toolset.
