Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Prevention Support Worker to join our team at Lake of the Woods District Hospital. As a Prevention Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals in their recovery journey, providing guidance and resources to help them achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist clients in their recovery journey, providing support and guidance to help them achieve their goals.
  • Provide support services for effective care transition and discharge planning.
  • Work collaboratively with other service providers to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community and district treatment resources.
  • Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution support to clients.
  • Utilize a non-judgmental approach to prevention support work, promoting a safe and supportive environment.
Requirements
  • Diploma in addictions or social services.
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • WHMIS training.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (CPI).
  • Completion of support and assist course for medication.
  • Basic counselling and screening skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to observe and record appropriately.
  • Capable of maintaining cooperative working relationships and liaising with various other service providers.
  • Ability to provide resource referrals and effectively advocate for clients.
  • Crisis intervention skills and conflict resolution experience required to support clients.
  • Effective critical thinking skills.
  • Previous experience working with a vulnerable population.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience working within the context of recovery, harm reduction, therapeutic engagement, homelessness, and trauma-informed approach.
  • Effective interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet client and operational needs.
  • Ability to organize and manage routine and administrative tasks.
  • Class G driver's license with a clean drivers abstract.
  • Demonstrated reliable attendance record.
