Role Summary:
The Head Butcher at VG Meats plays a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional meat preparation, quality control, and customer satisfaction. This position demands superior culinary skills, a deep understanding of meat cuts, and a dedication to delivering outstanding products to our discerning clientele.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meat Preparation and Cutting: Expertly cut, trim, and prepare various meats to meet quality and customer specifications.
- Quality Control: Maintain high standards of freshness, marbling, and appearance. Manage inventory to minimize waste and maximize profitability.
- Customer Service: Provide knowledgeable assistance to customers on cuts, cooking techniques, and recommendations.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and train junior butchers, manage schedules, and ensure efficient operations during peak periods.
- Inventory Management: Oversee stock levels, ordering, and supplier relationships to ensure product availability and quality.
- Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health regulations, maintain a clean workspace, and uphold food safety standards.
- Menu Development: Collaborate on new products and recipes that highlight our premium meat offerings.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and implement best practices for efficiency and quality improvement.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a professional butcher, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of meat cuts and culinary applications.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Certification from a culinary institute or butcher apprenticeship preferred.
