Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior High-Speed, Low-Noise Electronics Design Engineer to join our Engineering department. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and performance evaluation of the communication interface to our advanced superconducting quantum processors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement next-generation quantum processor control and readout system electronics
  • Continuously improve the current electronics systems
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams in Engineering and Processor Development
  • Clearly document and communicate work and progress to internal development teams
Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in high-speed digital design incorporating FPGAs
  • Multi-year experience in low-noise, high-frequency analog and mixed-signal electronics and PCB design
  • Excellent understanding of engineering and physics with strong multi-disciplinary technical skills
  • Excellent critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent hands-on ability and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with high-speed serial interfaces such as DDR, PCIe, and Ethernet
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and programming languages such as C/C++
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Self-motivated, proactive, flexible, and passionate about learning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Bonus Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or equivalent
  • Familiarity with Xilinx's tools and OrCad schematic and PCB layout tools
  • Experience in microwave circuit design, including filtering, switching, multiplexing, and transmission lines
  • Experience with microwave frequency design
  • Experience with superconducting circuits
  • Experience with cryogenic engineering and systems
  • Strong software engineering skills related to experimental design, data acquisition, and analysis
  • Knowledge of relevant E&M modeling tools (SPICE, Ansys HFSS, or similar)
  • Registered as a EIT or Professional Engineer in British Columbia
