Job Description

Support the Business in achieving Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality (HSSEQ) development objectives. Lead the introduction, implementation, and maintenance of company HSSEQ initiatives, programs, and policies through working with managers and staff in bringing about positive behavioral change and continual improvement.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain existing management system standards as defined in the HSEQ Policy Statement.
  • Investigate and report company HSEQ incidents according to the guidelines outlined by company documents.
  • Execute timely reports on HSEQ elements as designated by the Operations Manager. Identify and recommend statistical analysis techniques to facilitate continual improvement.
  • Assist in the coordination of training, orientation sessions, meetings, and conduct presentations as required for the implementation of new HSEQ initiatives.
  • Provide support to projects undertaken by Health and Safety Committee members.
  • Coordinate, track, investigate, and assist in resolving all Non-Conformance issues.
  • Coordinate the logging, action, and closure of HSEQ recordings.
  • Remain current on all applicable legislation as it relates to HSEQ and provide such information to staff by means of training, postings, email, Intranet, and other means of communication.
  • Champion and encourage employee involvement in the development and administration of the safety program.
  • Other duties as designated by the Operations Manager.
HSEQ Expectations:
  • Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with appropriate procedures.
  • Ensure that all formal role specific/applicable procedures, work instructions, and safety standards are complied with at all times.
  • Undertake interventions when appropriate.
  • Report any incidents/breaches of policy or regulation to the line manager.
  • Refuse unsafe work.
  • Ensure all unsafe work refusals are appropriately handled.
  • Notify the operations manager of any hazard trends.
  • Arrange, participate in, and deliver safety meetings.
  • Develop policy and procedure to keep the safety programs up to date and compliant with regulations and industry standards.

Qualifications:
  • Achievement of, or working towards one of the following designations/certifications:
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate/Diploma.
  • Minimum 1.5+ years of work experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) industry.
Benefits and Compensation:

The successful candidate will receive an estimated salary of $40,000 - $44,000 per year, based on a 40-hour workweek and assuming a 20% increase from the hourly rate of $20.00-$22.00. Additional benefits include dental care, disability insurance, employee assistance program, extended health care, life insurance, paid time off, and RRSP match.

Relocation: The position requires relocation to Saint John, New Brunswick, with a relocation package provided by the employer.
