Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive support to our clients for all their tax needs, including tax and estate planning, transaction support, tax compliance, and managing audits by tax authorities.
  • Assist our partners and team members in developing and implementing tax planning strategies.
  • Support our team in transactions to achieve clients' tax objectives, whether in the purchase or sale of a business or the transition of the business to the next generation.
  • Prepare memorandums for tax reorganizations, estate planning, or transaction support.
  • Identify tax issues, interpret and apply tax laws, and analyze case law or technical interpretations from tax authorities on various tax matters.
  • Prepare and review income tax returns for large corporations and identify planning opportunities.
  • Prepare special tax forms (branch tax returns, Regulation 105, T2057, etc.).
  • Conduct various tax attribute analyses in the context of tax planning or transactions (safe income analysis, surplus accounts, etc.) and understand the tax impact on the adopted strategy and client objectives.
  • Draft written submissions or notices of objection in the context of tax audits.
  • Participate in various training programs to gain exposure to different facets of our practice and develop a broad range of technical tax skills.

Requirements:

  • CPA or law degree obtained, CPA Canada's foundational tax course completed, or currently pursuing a master's degree in taxation.
  • Problem-solving skills, including ingenuity, analytical thinking, and creativity.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft (Outlook, Word, Excel), TaxPrep, TaxnetPro/CCH, or other tax research software.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to organize and present information clearly to clients and team members.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work with enthusiasm and a strong commitment to customer service.
  • Proficiency in English is considered an asset for professional reasons and to serve external and/or internal English-speaking clients.
