Job Title: Nurse Practitioner - Cardiac Surgery

Interior Health is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner to join their team at Kelowna General Hospital. This exciting opportunity provides a chance to work as a member of the Cardiac Surgery multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide independent and collaborative patient management throughout the continuum of inpatient cardiac surgery care.
  • Establish medical diagnoses from short-term, chronic, and acute health problems for new and established patients.
  • Prescribe and order appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
  • Manage post-operative complications in conjunction with Cardiac Surgeon.
  • Perform office procedures and wound care, such as suture, staple, and tunneled catheters removals, sharp wound debridement, and application and management of advanced wound technologies.
  • Order and review laboratory testing, interpret results, adjust medications, and interact with patients and referring physicians to effectively monitor and coordinate patient care.
  • Determine appropriate consultations/referrals to other health professionals and community agencies.
  • Provide hospital rounding, admission consultations, and discharge support, dictation of upcoming hospital procedures, and electronic hospital medical record entry, as assigned.
  • Confers/collaborates with cardiac surgeons regarding H&P findings and plan. Responds to phone calls from hospital staff during clinic hours.
  • Provides counseling and education to patients and their families/caregivers regarding disease process, treatment options, and follow-up plans.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and experience in diagnosis and procedure coding.
  • Demonstrates willingness to independently perform/assist in surgical procedures and to be trained accordingly.

Salary range for the position is $141,494 - $155,643. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications and experience of the applicant.
