We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Operations System Damage Claims Specialist to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of damage claim invoices, preparing timely billing to customers, and distributing customer invoices and supporting documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Reconcile and validate supporting information for damage claim invoices to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and review billing information for consistency, accuracy, and appropriate approvals.
- Distribute customer invoices and supporting documentation, and prepare invoice breakdown statements as required.
- Process claims interactions in online systems, run queries and reports, and update related information.
- Process claim-related work orders and notifications, maintaining data integrity.
- Work with managers and supervisors to resolve customer disputes, create supporting documentation, and apply discounts as required.
- Respond to internal and external customer inquiries, verbally or in written communications.
- Responsible for pursuing claims less than $5000.00.
- Provide assistance with pursuing recoveries from damages incurred on FortisBC assets and adjusting claims against FortisBC.
- Collaborate with others to gather claim information and communicate with claimants, employees, and external agencies.
- Perform administrative duties, such as scanning documents, preparing and mailing letters or emails, and performing other duties as required.
- High school graduation plus a minimum of a post-secondary education certificate in a legal field.
- Minimum of two years of directly related work experience, typically gained through an Operations Support Representative 3 position or an insurance and claims work environment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, including the ability to respond to difficult customer situations and take initiative to resolve matters.
- Sound organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work under pressure.
- Sound written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and compose external and internal correspondence.
- Courteous and professional manner in dealing with internal and external contacts, with positive interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Fast and accurate keyboarding skills, including the ability to format correspondence and reports.
- Working knowledge of computer systems operations, environment, and peripherals, as well as various applications software in use in the department.
- Knowledge of field operations processes and procedures.
- Sound analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret data from various sources.
