Veterinary technologists are essential to delivering exceptional patient care and providing top-notch services in a dynamic environment. We're seeking an experienced RVT to join our team at Western Veterinary Specialist & Emergency Centre (WVSEC) in Calgary, AB.
About the Position:
We're looking for a talented Registered Veterinary Technologist to join our ICU/ER department. This individual will be responsible for facilitating treatments, diagnostic work-ups, and monitoring of ill hospitalized patients. They will also assess and determine the priority of patients on the ER service, assist with diagnostics, treatments, admissions, and discharges.
The ideal candidate will have advanced technical skills, excellent client service and communication skills, and a special interest in referral medicine. They will be able to think critically, multitask, and work efficiently in a high-pressure atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inpatient care: Facilitating treatments, diagnostic work-up, and monitoring of ill hospitalized patients.
- Triage: Assessing and determining priority of patients on the ER service, assisting the DVM with diagnostics, treatments, admissions, and discharges.
- Procedures: Administering anesthesia for minor emergency procedures, assisting in set-up, and patient recovery.
- Communicating with clients and referring hospitals on a regular basis.

Requirements:
- Registered Veterinary Technician in Alberta.
- Prior experience as an RVT, ideally in an emergency or referral setting.
- Experience in administering general anesthesia and monitoring in dogs and cats.
- Able to think critically, multitask, and work efficiently in a high-pressure atmosphere.
- Exceptional time-management skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Estimated Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
