Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician to join our team at Toromont Cat Power Systems. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for safely and effectively diagnosing and repairing Caterpillar Power Systems on customer sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on gensets, industrial engines, marine engines, controls, and other auxiliary equipment.
  • Conduct pre-job hazard assessments and mechanical repairs on engines and generators in both the shop and on customer sites.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting for all equipment and provide detailed service reports and recommendations on repairs and upgrades.
  • Use electrical and mechanical testing and calibrating equipment to diagnose and service equipment.
  • Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Submit accurate service reports, time cards, and other required paperwork in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in a field related to diesel engines or electro-mechanics, marine engine mechanics, industrial mechanics, or equivalent.
  • Experience in the repair of generators, gensets, diesel engines, marine engines, or related heavy equipment.
  • Experience working on large diesel engines in a marine environment will be considered an asset.
  • Experience working on switchgear and/or transfer switches will be considered an asset.
