We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team at Roald Smith Construction Inc. as a Construction Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of workmanship in the construction of residential and commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities- Measure, Cut, and Assemble Materials: The Carpenter will measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials to ensure precise fit and finish.
- Build Foundations and Install Roof Systems: The successful candidate will build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems to meet the highest standards of construction.
- Fabricate and Install Finishing Elements: The Carpenter will fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware to complete the construction project.
- Train and Mentor Apprentices: The successful candidate will instruct apprentices in the skills and techniques required for the role.
- Maintain and Repair Structures: The Carpenter will maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in various settings, including mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.
- Education and Experience: The successful candidate will have 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in the trade and a strong understanding of construction principles and practices.
- Language and Communication: The Carpenter will be fluent in English and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work Environment and Conditions: The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, handle heavy loads, and work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Personal Qualities: The Carpenter will possess a strong work ethic, be accurate, client-focused, and a team player with excellent judgement and reliability.
