About the Job
The City of Greater Sudbury is seeking a skilled Strategic Communications Professional to develop and implement communications, marketing, and engagement strategies to promote the city's vision and strategic initiatives.
This role will work under the general direction of the Director of Communications and Community Engagement, with day-to-day direction from designated department or project lead. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing marketing and communications plans to support organizational priorities and goals.
- Identifying opportunities and developing strategies to promote the city in relation to strategic initiatives and projects.
- Coordinating and overseeing the development of related marketing and communications materials.
- Providing strategic advice on confidential projects and developing plans for successful events, announcements, and launches.
- Managing communication and marketing expenditures within operating budgets and tracking expenditures against budgeted resources.
- Developing engagement strategies and coordinating the production of communications and marketing materials to advance the goals of strategic initiatives and projects.
- Supporting elected officials, senior leaders, and staff in the development and implementation of advocacy strategies and supporting materials.
- Developing and implementing strategies for the online and digital presence of strategic initiatives and projects.
- Planning and overseeing events and materials in line with the strategic goals of the organization.
- Negotiating and managing contracts and agreements with outside agencies to provide services in support of the work plan.
- Working to actively promote the city's brand identity as related to strategic initiatives, promotional activities, and enforcement of existing and future funding agreements.
- Leading communications and public relations projects related to strategic initiatives and projects, including speaking notes for senior leaders and elected officials.
- Maintaining a thorough working knowledge of the city's Safety Manual and applicable provincial legislation.
