About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Drywall Specialist to join our team at Super Homes. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for installing and finishing drywall to ensure a smooth and durable finish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and Finishing: Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements; prepare tenders and quotations; instruct apprentices; supervise other workers; apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints; apply, level, and smooth coats of plaster; clean and prepare surfaces; cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners; fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings.
  • Surface Preparation: Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife; finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in the finish coat, if required.
  • Sheet Installation: Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets; position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists.
  • Finishing Touches: Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry; spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings; tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound; trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces.
  • Additional Tasks: Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts, and electrical outlets; install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings, and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath; install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied; install exterior and interior steel studs; install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools; install vapor barriers and thermal and sound insulation.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in drywall installation and finishing.
  • Supervision: 1 to 2 people.
  • Language: English.
  • Work Hours: 32 to 40 hours per week.
