About Our Opportunity
The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a skilled Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic to join our Building Services Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in maintaining and supporting our provincial infrastructure.
Primary Accountabilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, servicing, repairing, inspecting, and decommissioning industrial, commercial, and residential HVAC and refrigeration units and systems in provincially owned and leased buildings. This will include connecting to and servicing air delivery systems, installing and servicing hydronic and secondary refrigerant systems, and associated controls.
Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will require a high school diploma and a Red Seal qualification as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic. A minimum of two years of experience as a Red Seal certified technician is also required. A valid Nova Scotia driver's license is necessary for this position.
Key Competencies
The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. You will also need to be able to work efficiently and effectively in a team environment, with a strong understanding of cultural differences. Good public relations skills and the ability to respond with tact and diplomacy when working with various government clients, contractors, and staff are essential.
