Job SummaryThe Mechanical Technician TS7 plays a key role in a team environment, working closely with colleagues to optimize quality, productivity, and timeliness across multiple projects. This role involves training junior technicians, troubleshooting, and maintaining production and associated machinery.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with Production Technical Coordinators to ensure adequate resource allocation and coordinate maintenance activities.
- Assist in resolving technical service issues with internal customers, such as Operations, Quality, and Engineering, and provide recommendations to resolve matters beyond existing SOPs.
- Act as a mentor to junior mechanics, providing training and guidance on troubleshooting, repair, and rebuild of production and associated machinery.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMPs), SOPs, and established Safety Standards.
- Recommend design changes, drawings, and modifications of equipment or parts as required in conjunction with engineering and maintenance.
- Stay up-to-date with company policies and new technology.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of equipment to serve as a subject matter expert for investigations, audits, training, or other purposes.
- Participate in situational leadership opportunities for projects or troubleshooting exercises as required.
- Contribute to a team environment to achieve all outcomes.
- Perform all work in support of Apotex's Corporate Values of Pride, Accountability, Integrity, and Diligence.
- Comply with all established regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical or consumer goods industry.
- Licensed in one or more of the following trades: Industrial Mechanical, Machinist, Tool and Die, Industrial Electrician, Electro-Mechanical Controls, or other technical certification.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanics and machine shop practices.
- In-depth knowledge of Electrical, Hydraulics, and Pneumatics.
- Knowledge of GMPs related to pharmaceuticals.
- Knowledge of Quick Change Over Techniques and PLC would be an asset.
- Able to lead, collaborate with others, and train junior technicians.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good analytical and presentation skills.
- Proactive and self-motivated.
- Able to work any shift, including evenings and weekends.
