Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of heavy trucks and construction equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency.

 

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
  • Identifying and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools
  • Repairing or replacing defective parts, components, and systems, including engines, brakes, transmissions, and suspension systems
  • Service and maintaining diesel and gas engines, air brakes, hydraulic systems, and electronic control systems
  • Conducting welding and fabrication as needed for equipment repair
  • Ensuring vehicles meet regulatory and safety standards (MTO and DOT compliance)
  • Maintaining accurate records of work performed, inspections, and parts used
  • Performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections on equipment when necessary
  • Adhering to workplace health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Collaborating with other team members and departments to ensure timely equipment availability for project needs
  • Providing mentorship and training to apprentices or junior mechanics, as required

 

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a licensed 310T Journeyman
  • Experience with construction equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, and dump trucks) is an advantage
  • A valid 310T Truck and Coach Technician license
  • Red Seal certification is an asset
  • A valid driver's license (DZ mandatory and AZ preferred)

 

Estimated Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per annum, depending on experience
