The Richmond Montessori School Inc. is seeking a qualified Montessori Teacher to join our team. As a Montessori Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a supportive and engaging learning environment for children aged [insert age range].

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers and lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
  • Order supplies and equipment, assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records, and encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
  • Engage children in activities, guide and assist them in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits, and observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems.
  • Prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors, establish guidelines for behavior, and attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children, plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children, and plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants, and ensure compliance with licensing regulations.
Requirements:
  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • First Aid Certificate, Montessori Early Childhood Teacher Certificate, and CPR Certificate.
  • Criminal record check, Child Abuse Registry check, and Vulnerable sector check.
  • Valid driver's license and own transportation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, punctuality, dependability, and flexibility.
  • Ability to multitask, work in a team environment, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of licensing regulations and ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers.
