Job Overview

Reporting to the Manager or AVP, Corporate Underwriting, you will be responsible for overseeing the underwriting of P&C lines of business across all regions and divisions.

Key Responsibilities

- **Underwriting Quality and Risk Appetite**: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive underwriting excellence, providing guidance and support to regional teams on underwriting matters. Engage in underwriting decision-making for risks outside regional authority and escalate complex issues as needed.

- **Product Development**: Partner with Head Office Departments to develop and introduce new or amended products, ensuring seamless implementation of procedures associated with these changes.

- **Underwriting Guidelines**: Identify and implement necessary changes to underwriting and pricing guidelines to align with corporate objectives, underwriting philosophy, and market trends. Maintain the integrity of our pricing, policy, and practices throughout this process.

- **Alternative Distribution Agreements**: Review existing and create new agreements to optimize portfolio performance.

- **Portfolio Analysis**: Conduct in-depth analysis to understand trends, profitability, and market competitors, informing strategic decisions to drive growth and profitability.

Requirements

- Strong technical Property and Casualty underwriting skills are essential for success in this role.

- A university degree or college diploma in a relevant field is required.

- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills are necessary to analyze complex information and negotiate effectively with stakeholders.

- Ability to build and maintain a culture of high performance and sustained profitable growth by promoting collaboration, teamwork, and professionalism.

- Strong customer service, verbal, and written communication skills are crucial, along with excellent computer literacy and analytic skills.

- Competitive salary range: $58,100 - $106,900
