Valve Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Valve Technician to join our team at Spartan Controls Ltd. in Whitecourt and Western Canada. The successful candidate will be based out of our Whitecourt Service Centre and will report to the Manager, Valve Service.

Key Responsibilities

• Service, inspect, assemble, and test relief valves
• Service, inspect, assemble, and test isolation and control valves
• Perform field service work
• Troubleshoot, teardown, and rebuild industrial isolation valves
• Operate and maintain inline machining tools
• Interface with internal and external customers
• Support other branches when customer demands require
• Support our growing OEM business with onsite repairs
• Ability to work overtime when needed to meet customer requirements
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
• Participate in the safety program
• Participate in the quality program and ensure industry/company requirements are met or exceeded

Requirements and Qualifications

• Mechanically knowledgeable
• 960 logged hours of in-house relief valve training, as per ABSA, would be an asset
• Prior experience in servicing industrial ball, gate, globe, plug, and control valves would be an asset
• Preference will be given to candidates with prior valve and testing experience
• Driver's License - Minimum Class 5 with clean abstract
• Commercial Driver's License considered an asset
• Prior experience operating a boiler would be an asset
• Prior instrumentation experience would be an asset
• Basic machining experience would be an asset
• SAP experience considered an asset
• Solid keyboarding and computer skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent problem-solving ability
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Team player
• Entrepreneurial work ethic
• Physically able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs.
