At Empire Life, we're seeking a highly skilled Group Insurance Underwriting Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Group Operations department, you'll play a critical role in reviewing and assessing risk for requests to quote, amendments, and renewals.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be guided by defined procedural practices and work under the supervision of the Manager, Group Underwriting (Complex). Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring accurate and timely processing of non-complex and complex requests to quote, amendments, and renewals.
- Leading quoting, amending, and renewal activity in both non-complex and complex spaces, with a focus on establishing and growing long-term partnerships.
- Using your experience and judgment, in conjunction with Underwriting guidelines, product knowledge, and service knowledge, to determine optimal solutions to meet customer needs and requirements.
You'll also be responsible for ensuring the profitability of group business through the use of subsidy applications and developing and presenting business cases to support pricing decisions.
What We're Looking ForTo succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Bilingualism in English and French.
- At least 3 years of work experience in the group insurance/financial services industry, with group underwriting experience and knowledge.
- Proven knowledge of group benefits products, contractual provisions, risk assessment, and pricing methodologies.
