We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Energy Investment Banking Associate to join our team at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. As an Energy Investment Banking Associate, you will play a key role in providing investment banking services to clients in the renewable and conventional power, utilities, midstream, upstream energy, infrastructure, energy transition, and climate technology sectors.
Key Responsibilities- Industry Research and Analysis - Conduct in-depth research and analysis to create and direct complex financial models, extracting key insights to identify and analyze business opportunities.
- Proposal Development - Contribute to the preparation of client proposals, pitchbooks, and the execution of new and existing client mandates, developing industry and financial analysis to inform client recommendations.
- Financial Modeling - Develop and audit sophisticated financial models to support investment banking transactions.
- Relationship Building - Foster relationships with clients, internal teams, and external partners, coordinating client-focused and deal-focused brainstorming sessions to drive business growth.
- Due Diligence - Assist in company due diligence investigations to ensure seamless transaction execution.
- Support - Provide administrative support to senior investment banking colleagues, maintaining accurate databases and records.
- Education - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Economics, with a preference for CA or CFA certification and an MBA or Master's in Finance.
- Experience - Minimum 3-4 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, project financing, tax equity, or investment review.
- Skills - Excellent analytical and technical skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and industry technology such as FactSet and Bloomberg.
