Accounting Technician, Assurance & Accounting Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Technician to join our Assurance & Accounting team. As a trusted advisor, you will provide comprehensive financial information to clients, enabling them to make informed decisions with confidence.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and processes, as well as experience working with accounting and tax software. You will be responsible for assisting with compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping, and tax engagements, as well as preparing and maintaining government remittances/filings, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable, and payroll transactions.

You will also be responsible for setting up client files, assisting with the completion of budgets, and completing administrative planning. Additionally, you will perform the month-end and quarter-end close process, maintain, monitor, and reconcile GL accounts, including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, intercompany, and point of sale (POS)/system uploads.

The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with the client engagement team. You will also have the flexibility to travel, as necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping, and tax engagements

Requirements
  • Accounting certificate or bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is considered an asset)
  • Entry-level to 2 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Experience preparing T4s and T5s and knowledge of personal and corporate tax is preferred
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes is considered an asset
  • Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset
