Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to join our team at the Provincial and Demonstration Schools Branch. As an ASL Interpreter, you will play a critical role in providing interpreting services for Deaf students and staff in various settings, including educational and resource services programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide interpreting services for Deaf students and staff in various settings, including educational and resource services programs.
  • Provide interpreting services for administrative and professional staff in sensitive and demanding situations.
  • Provide interpreting services for training sessions and workshops.
  • Be available to work on-call hours as required.
Requirements
  • Mandatory:
    • Degree or Diploma in ASL-English Interpreting.
    • Fluency in American Sign Language and English.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • Ability to interpret in a wide range of formal, informal, educational and professional settings.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the Professional Code of Ethics of the Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (CASLI).
    • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of Deaf culture.
    • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a team.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Experience interpreting in both small and large group settings.
Additional Information

This is a temporary, fixed-term position available for up to 10 months. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a security screening check.
