About the Opportunity

The Medical Laboratory Technologist performs complex analytical tests and procedures in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, utilizing advanced methodologies and quality assurance techniques. This role requires the ability to perform all tests, both manual and automated, in the clinical and environmental laboratories with minimal supervision, particularly in emergency and weekend/night situations.

The Medical Laboratory Technologist operates sophisticated instruments that are often computer integrated and networked, utilizing computerized information systems to compare test results to established criteria and make decisions regarding reportability. This role demands tact, sensitivity, and effective communication skills to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to the Medical Laboratory Technologist Code of Conduct.

About You

We seek a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist with the following qualifications:

  • Graduate from an approved Medical Laboratory Technologist program
  • Licensed with the Nova Scotia College of Medical Laboratory Technologists (NSCMLT) or eligible
  • Registered with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
  • Ability to work shiftwork, including weekends and holidays as required
  • Willingness to travel when necessary
  • Competencies in other languages, with French being an asset

Key Responsibilities

The Medical Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for:

  • Performing complex analytical tests and procedures

  • Working effectively in emergency and weekend/night situations
Compensation and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of $37.54 hourly and be eligible for our comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
