Public Relations Officer

At EXP, we're seeking a skilled Public Relations Officer to join our team. As a key member of our community outreach team, you will play a vital role in building and maintaining relationships with the public, stakeholders, and clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a public information liaison for notification and community relations during construction projects, developing rapport with construction teams, clients, residents, and business owners.
  • Conduct site visits to identify potential issues and work with the project team to resolve them promptly.
  • Prepare and deliver construction notices prior to work taking place.
  • Respond to phone calls and emails in a timely manner, documenting all interactions with the public.
  • Submit daily and monthly reports to clients as required.
  • Facilitate communications between the public, project team, and clients during the construction phase.
  • Communicate with clients' project managers and councilors, providing responses to inquiries within two business days.
  • Attend meetings as required, leading the public consultation component for projects and providing updates on issues and actions taken.
  • Distribute information promptly to relevant team members and follow up to ensure issues are resolved quickly.
  • Track contractor compliance with pre-condition survey requirements and maintain a log of resident participation.
  • Track the status of and follow up on third-party claims and their resolution.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of five years' experience in communication, with a focus on public linear construction projects.
  • Completion of post-secondary education in environmental, engineering, or communications, or equivalent experience in community engagement and customer service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand construction projects, interpret technical situations, and provide feedback to stakeholders.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize complaints as they arise.
  • Demonstrated experience in conflict management and negotiations is an asset.
