We are currently seeking a skilled Hospital Safety Specialist to join our esteemed hospital in Durham Region. This exciting opportunity offers a chance to advance your career in security and law enforcement while contributing to the well-being of our community.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Monitoring entry points and controlling access to the healthcare facility, verifying credentials and authorizing entry for authorized personnel.
- Conducting regular patrols of the facility, including interior and exterior areas, to deter unauthorized access and identify potential security threats.
- Responding promptly to security incidents, including medical emergencies, disturbances, and safety hazards.
- FOLLOWING established protocols for emergency situations, such as lockdown procedures or evacuation drills, to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
- Interacting with patients, visitors, and staff in a calm and respectful manner, resolving conflicts and addressing concerns to maintain a peaceful environment.
- Utilizing effective de-escalation techniques to manage volatile situations and prevent escalation to violence.
- Monitoring security cameras, alarm systems, and other surveillance equipment to detect suspicious activity and potential security breaches.
- Documenting all security-related incidents and observations accurately, completing incident reports and notifying appropriate personnel as necessary.
We require a candidate with:
- A valid Security Guard License and First Aid/CPR certificate.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals in a healthcare environment.
- Proven experience as a security guard or in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
- Excellent observational and problem-solving skills with the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
- Basic computer skills.
- Able to walk/stand 12-hour shifts providing proactive and reactive security patrols and response to incidents.
- Able to complete accurate and detailed report writing, multi-task and work in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
