About the Role

The Upper Canada District School Board is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to join our team. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with exceptional needs, providing individualized support and accommodations to ensure their academic success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to students with exceptional needs, including those with learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, developmental disabilities, or physical challenges.
  • Work under the direction and supervision of the Principal and in consultation with the Learning Resource Teacher (LRT) and classroom teacher to develop and implement individualized support plans.
  • Assist with the instruction of individual and/or groups of students in an academic and/or integrated class environment.
  • Oversee special education students and implement special education programs related to behavior, communication, intellectual, or physical needs, as required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of specific social/emotional and physical needs of students with exceptional needs.
Requirements
  • Secondary school diploma and two-year or three-year Community College Diploma in one of the following: Child & Youth Worker, Registered Early Childhood Educator, Behavioral Science Technician, Educational Assistant, Developmental Services Worker, or Social Service Worker.
  • Bachelor Degrees in Child Studies, Sociology, and Psychology will be recognized.
  • Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training/certification is an asset.
  • Related work experience would be an asset.
