Support Staff for Students with Exceptional Needs

The Upper Canada District School Board is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to provide support to students with exceptional needs in our schools.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized support to students with exceptional needs, including those with learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, developmental disabilities, or physical challenges.
- Work under the direction of the Principal and in consultation with the Learning Resource Teacher (LRT) and classroom teacher to develop and implement individualized support plans.
- Assist students with academic and daily living skills, such as reading, writing, and math, as well as with personal care and hygiene.
- Monitor and report on student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and making recommendations for support.
- Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement strategies to support student learning and behavior.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment.
- Secondary school diploma and two-year or three-year Community College Diploma in a related field, such as Child and Youth Work, Registered Early Childhood Education, or Social Service Work.
- Behavior Management Systems (BMS) training/certification is an asset.
- Related work experience is an asset.
